The Pactodeme-class support cruiser was a light cruiser model employed by the Tair Republic and occasionally independent parties following its introduction in 321 ABY. A versatile ship, it saw use in many diverse scenarios, including underwater, atmospheric, ground and asteroid field environs.
History[]
Design and production[]
The Mere designed the Pactodeme in 319 ABY to resemble a species of massive predatory shark native to their homeworld Maramere, and the concept was accepted and began prototype construction by the following year. By 324 ABY, a total of 1,658 Pactodeme-class cruisers had reached completion for the Republic Navy, with another thousand well into production.
Ascendance Conflict[]
The Sith Ascendancy officially declared war with an attack on Maramere, intent on ceasing construction of warships for the Republic Navy. The assault backfired, as the Mere used their large number of completed ships to engage the Sith fleet from below while a Tair attack group arrived out of hyperspace to provide reinforcement.
With the Sith pushed from their homeworld, the Mere resumed eagerly producing cruisers for the Republic until victory was achieved at Murkhana.
